then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part;

then I shall know fully even as I am fully known.”

-1 Corinthians 13:12

Many animals have crossed my path over the years. Cats, gerbils, rabbits, dogs, a goat and turtles graced my childhood. And now as an adult, thanks to our future “veterinarian/change the world through animals” daughter, paw prints have been marked all over the path of my grown up life.

It started with the cat, into whose family I married. Then Reece, our future vet daughter, convinced us we needed a fish, then a frog. Then a dog. Then a rat. Then two more. Lots of fish. Then hedgehogs. Then a hedgehog breeding business…Then chickens. A rabbit. Not to mention the brief fostering of rescued creatures that have made their way into our home until being nursed to health.

Sigh. Before you think we are crazy, may I note that not ALL of these animals reside with us currently. I will mutter quietly that many of them do. I will add that if it were up to our future vet, a capybara and llama would be added to the list.

Our daughter’s passion for and knowledge of animals has led to many additions to the family, as mentioned above. As my husband and I journey through life with our daughter and these family additions, it becomes more clear that pets, among other things, can teach us a lot about…life.

We lead a very interesting and eccentric household here. Stories upon furry and feathered stories may make their way into a book one day. For now, those stories and other thoughts will grace my computer…and yours!
