“In the beginning God…”
I have been wrong before but I’m going to step out on a limb and claim that God could have stopped there.
He could have told Moses to write those first four words of Genisis 1:1 and commanded John to jot on the scroll the last word of Revelation 22:21.
It would have been enough. The story would be complete and he being deserving of all worship, honor and glory would remain. All evolution theories put to rest and all naysayers put to shame. All questions answered, all doubts hushed, all fear crushed and all sin redeemed. Why?
Because in the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and in the end is the Word (Jesus). Because not only is He Alpha, but He is Omega. He is First and He is Last and He is “I AM”.
I could be way off here, but I can assume the arrogance of pride and sin possibly urged God to write a little more. Maybe? The need for mankind to have it all laid out, reasoned out, thought out… Well, hence the rest of Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 21.
Knowing that man would ask for confirmation, validation and verification He thought it wise to create the ultimate composition- in the matter of fact statements from Exodus… In the poetic eloquence from Song of Solomon… In the dramatic exclamations from Revelation.
God assured that all finicky readers would be given Truth explained in their written genre of choice.
So there it is. Short and sweet. The Mandy philosophy of the reason for 66 biblical books in simplest form.
My challenge for the day? Read them!
